In preparation for Thanksgiving, how do you cook your Turkey???
Oven roasted???? In a cooking bag??? We’ve done that quite a few times, less mess, moist turkey. Make sure to put little slits in the bag or the bag will expand and possibly pop, then you have a major nightmare/ turkey guts everywhere.
Deep fryer???? We’ve tried that also. Love how it cuts the time down. It’s great if you have a group of guys who can hangout/drink beer and fry the turkey 🦃. But it can be super dangerous if your guy needs supervision lol🤣. The oil gets super hot and when the turkey goes in the oil watch out! We used peanut oil. Highly recommended, turkey is more crispy like a KFC turkey.
Then we’ve tried the roaster , a separate oven on the counter. Cooks nice. But a Word to the wise , make sure the roaster is always completely covered or the turkey will not cook. Yes that happened one year. But in the end it turned out amazing just took a little more time to cook.
You can always Brine the turkey, one girlfriend swears this is how it’s done. It’s like a 3 day process, it’s pretty much marinating your turkey and a bunch of seasonings for about 2 to 3 days. Then putting it in a roaster pan.
My first time ever cooking the turkey was not for thanksgiving, but for a holiday dinner. We decided to inject it with a garlic butter seasoning, everyone was talking about how to inject a turkey. What the heck it can’t be that hard. We managed to really make that meal tasty. Way over injected the bird. Then the best part was forgetting to take out the stuff inside the bird, it cooked in the bird, bag and all. Chalked that meal up to a learning experience, I think cocktails could have played a part in that situation🤣🤣🤣🤣🍷🍸. It was still a fun night . Laughs for all when we discovered the gizzard , liver, heart and neck in the bag in the turkey.🤣🤣🤣🤣
As you all know , I’m not a cook , don’t really enjoy it. But don’t mind trying if I know my mates won’t complain.
Last year we had 2 turkeys one “oven cooked” and one a Tofurkey, a vegan hunk of what ever it was. Every one tried the vegan meatless thing. I got it from Kroger, paid more for this little 3 pound of food , than I did a 18 lb turkey. But honestly the Tofurkey was a hit at the party.
Another Thanksgiving tradition is stuffing or dressing. Do you make a stuffing or do you make dressing? That was always such a big debate until I finally learned this. If you cook the stuffing in the bird then it’s called stuffing if you cook it outside of the bird then it’s called dressing. And stuffing or dressing could have a variety of spices , breads, and even fruit ,some people put sausage in it. Or even the simple Pettridge Farms stuffing. Or even simpler stove top! But one quick question if you’re cooking stove top stuffing on the stove why is it called stuffing and not dressing🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 who really gives a crap on that question, just thought that was 😂 funny.
HAD A NO FILTER MOMENT TONIGHT AT THE STORE, THIS LADY WAS HOLDING UP THE LINE TALKING ON HER PHONE ( IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE), HER CREDIT CARD WAS DECLINED AND SHE BASICALLY WASN’T LISTENING TO THE CASHIER, SHE WAS YELLING AT SOMEONE ON THE PHONE, WHEN I STEPPED IN AND TOLD HER THE CASHIER WAS TRYING TO HELP HER CHECK OUT, BECAUSE THE LINE IS GETTING SUPER LONG, YES, I WAS SUPER NICE, KILLING HER WITH KINDNESS. THOUGHT OF EVEN “PLAYING IT FORWARD AND BUYING HER 2 ITEMS” WHEN HER HEAD SPUN AROUND LIKE THE EXORCIST AND TOLD ME TO MIND MY OWN DAMN! BUSINESS. AT LEAST THATS WHAT I THOUGHT SHE SAID IN HER LOUD VOICE. REALLY!!!!!! THE CASHIER THEN SET HER STUFF , SHE STAYED ON THE PHONE AND THEN THEY RANG UP MY ITEMS.UGH!! KINDNESS IT ALWAYS A GOOD THING.
